For our first trip we went to the Dr Pepper Bottling Plant in Dublin Texas.
Here is the route that we took.
Can you find the individual dressed in a hot dog costume in the picture above?
The largest Dr Pepper I have ever seen!
Since this is the oldest Dr Pepper Bottling Company in the world, they do tours of their plant. For $2.50 you can see how they bottle Dr Pepper the old fashioned way.
Your cost of admission also entitles you to a free bottle of Dr Pepper. If you receive a "classic" bottle you will be asked to return it by the end of the tour.
They also have lots of Dr Pepper memorabilia on display. You can only view them if you are on the tour and you are not permitted to take pictures in the rooms. There were old calendars and photos of the founder of Dr Pepper. An old typwriter and the original cash register used at this plant. These items were displayed in the smallest rooms. There were a lot of people on our tour which meant we were all shoulder to shoulder in the tiny rooms.
After the plant tour we headed to Stephenville for dinner at the Hard 8 BBQ.
This was great BBQ! You purchase the meat by the pound so you can sample as much as you would like. Their banana pudding is amazing! Don't leave without trying it.
Ron decided to take a more direct route home instead of going through all of the traffic lights on 377. We were not on highway 281 for very long when Ron pulls to the side of the road. I didn't know what was going on. Then I saw the police officer. The officer pulled us over for not having a license plate on the front of the car. The officer was very nice and only gave us a warning.
Regardless of the warning, we had a great day! The trip took much longer than we had anticipated but what a wonderful ride it was!

Wow, meat by the pound? My BBQ-loving friend would flip!
All those wide open spaces make me miss Texas. Fun trip, without the cop stop, of course.
What a great day out! Lucky you didn't get a ticket - the cops over here wouldn't be as considerate!
What a great day trip, love the car....super..:-)
Let's see, first road trip...first warning ticket! That's a good start! BOL! You made our father's day gift pale in comparison! Smoke salmon doesn't quite make it with a car that beautiful!
